And with today's post, I put together a summary/surprise to end my trip of all trips.
But wait.
The Challenge:
Get Ready on the Inside
How much time do spend getting ready each day? Today, use the same amount of time to get ready on the inside. Meditate, write in your journal, or perform an act of service.
Good thing the challenge people explain the "why" of this one to me. Apparently women spend thousands of hours on their appearances over a lifetime.
Uh, they do? This one is easy for me.
Take yesterday. I only showered. 10 minutes at 10:00 at night. No make up. No hair drying...nothing. Now that's not everyday but I'd say the most time I spend on myself is once a week I take 45 minutes to get ready. My average is about 20-30.
So, I'm supposed to spend more time then that on meditating, journaling or service?
I think I can handle this one. I spent more time on the stinkin' blog, then I do on my looks.
But it does make me think. Maybe I don't care enough about my appearance and that is why I get down on myself? Hmmmm....I'll think on that some more.
But I do have something beautiful that I want to share. I made a summary video of some pictures I took of my trip to Italy. I know, I know...get over it...this Italy trip. I'm just trying to hold on to every last shred of memory...it gets me through to the next adventure.
And just to show my appreciation for those who took the time to read my posts, I'm offering a gift.
I'm giving this away in a drawing:
It's a hand crafted brown leather bracelet made in a monastery of the Chiesa di Santa Croce in the Scuola del Cuoio, inscribed with the words, "Scuola del Cuoio FIRENZE". Made in Florence, Italy. It's a sweet trinket, not fancy but something I lovingly packed home with me and that I want to share.
So, here's the gig:
You must leave a comment. (Duh). But your comment must include, the title of your favorite post on my blog about my trip to Italy. Easy peasy.
That's how you will get entered.
And I think I'm going to end this drawing Wednesday, Oct. 20th at 7:00 am.
It's a one shot deal.
And I'm guessing your chances of winning will be large. I don't get many comments about Italy, generally.
So, with that I leave my tribute to Italy...in video.
Set to the music, Attraversiamo from the movie; Eat, Pray, Love...of which I have not seen but loved this music from and thought it was appropriate. I read the book on the plane on the way to Italy.
Enlarge this and turn up the volume and fill your home and thoughts with good things.
Arrivederci...which means..."till we meet again...farewell".
Or...later gator.

My favorite was "When You See David". I loved your description:
"He's massive. He's perfection. He turns his evil eye glare to face Rome as if to say, "we're not afraid of you. As I conquered the Philistine, so can I you."
It really was beautiful and since I will probably never go to Rome (even though I would love it) I am glad I got to see that photo of him. Also, seeing him in context with his surroundings gives a better idea of just how massive and grand he is.
I discovered your blog midway through your Italy posts so I went back and read what I missed.
I really liked "Stiff-neckedness" because your analogy is something I have been thinking about a lot lately. Look heavenward, look up, look to good and beauty. Don't get caught being so consumed with every day life that we forget to look for the blessings, to look up.
I loved When You See David, as well. I loved how sneaky you were!
My favorite was on Seeing the Holy See. I grew up Catholic and was awed by your descriptions and photos. I especially liked when you mentioned the Pieta. We had a replica in the church I attended as a child and you took me back there.
I loved "A Fountain Worthy of an Obelisk." The pictures were absolutely beautiful and I just loved reading about it. All your posts about Italy are beautiful! And keep up the good work on the Recapturing Beauty challenge, I like keeping up on it. :)

I adored the pictures from your post "City In Ruins". I know it's not possible, but senior pics for J would be amazing with those in the background. (I don't see Rich going for the cost of a trip just to take senior pics...I digress.)
I did share some of your pics with Jordan and she agrees when I'm old and gray and she's still young (she even snickered saying this), her and I are taking a trip to Italy.
"When You See David" was my favorite, though "City in Ruins" came close.
But that David just blew me away...and the fact that you got a forbidden picture of him!
=)
Oh, I forgot to share my thoughts about the first part of your post.
On a good day, I do spend more time on my inner than outward appearance. But I probably don't spend enough time on either.
=)
"City of Ruins" - wanna know why? Because there is a picture of you and Boyd!! You are beautiful (Day 4 should be telling you that) and you need to be in more of your pictures!
I have one more to read . . . but my favorite so far was of Pompeii. Incredible to see that in person, I bet. Well, EVERYTHING you saw in person was probably INCREDIBLE.
Anyway, I've really enjoyed your posts about your trip, and the posts of your baking. I've decided that I like to bake . . . But it gets me in trouble.
Hi There!
This is my first time visiting your blog but I'm sure all your Italy posts were wonderful :) What a wonderful trip that must have been!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I'm now following.
Have a great day!
Gastronomy is my favorite.
The food looks amazing, and all I think about right now it food. The thought of meat hanging from my ceiling almost makes me want to go and tie some up.
Is it OK that I "entered"? I figured then I wouldn't feel bad about having you send Lydia's flip flops Boyd probably still has in his truck if you were sending something anyhow.
My second favorite post (was it a post?) was your book. Kinda a sucker for pictures.
what a beautiful gift to your loyal readers.
wish we had discovered each other's blogs sooner!
I have to admit..
my favorite was "When You See David"!
the photo was almost as majestic as the sculpture!!

Bellisimo!

Thanks so much!

I want you to know that besides dying of jealousy, there is NO one more suited to wing to Italy than you. :)
I loved the one with you getting water out of the fountain. I like it because it is proof that Boyd was serving you by taking your pictures. :)
If I win the bracelet, take it to a sweet old woman on the oncology floor of the local hospital. The old woman who never gets any visitors...she will love it most.
Hey! I actually have two favorites: Last but not Least and Lofty Duomo of Florence!! The architecture of the buildings and interiors in the photos are sooo cool!!
