Pendant lighting over the island. Love the idea and look of it...not particularly fond of the "blue" lights.
If I had my druthers...I'd replace them with these....
All in good time...
I really love the ceilings...with the exposed heating ducts and wood beams. The triangle windows also add a touch of retro light.
Am I southwestern? Am I modern? Am I chic? I love that this stove keeps you guessing. And that it works well. It is the only thing in the entire house that is piped and run with natural gas. Everything else, including the furnaces and water heaters are electric.
A long bank of south facing, floor to ceiling windows gives me plenty of natural light.
And what Retro kitchen would be complete without the slat swinging doors. Every kitchen I lived in growing up had these. They separate the kitchen from the dining room.
Appliance cabinets are handy...they hide a lot of sins....and garbage...
I'm also fond of all the under-cabinet lighting. The dark countertops tend to soak up a lot of light...so more is needed.
The second sink in the island is something I thought I'd never use...turns out that it's pretty handy. It has a monster garbage disposal for prep work discards. And it's right across from the stove so I can access water quickly for filling pots.
Double ovens. Enough said.
And we're back in microwave business. Oh, how I missed that.
We've been here for a couple of weeks now and I still haven't done much to make the kitchen mine yet...besides initiating it with new recipes. There's plenty of time to make it mine, but so far...I love the kitchen. KP duties are no chore here....
