Bed Maker...Happiness Taker

So I've heard this theory running around that making your bed every day can make you happier.

This lady tries it out on her blog.

So I tried it out myself today.

First of all, that's hard to do when I get out of bed 3 hours earlier then my sleeping buddy.

Second of all....I didn't notice a difference.

Happiness scale before bed making on a 1-10....7

Happiness scale after bed making....7

Maybe I just have to do it until it becomes a habit before it makes me happier.

Does making your bed every day make you happier?

Actually I think the answer to that is yes...maybe in the same way that cleaning the kitchen every morning does. I know that when I'm ready to use either one, it will feel more peaceful in some way... besides my mother made me! Love you!! PS I think the last one out of bed should be the one to make it...I'm just sayin -

I'd say it does. I mean, I used to not make my bed before I got married, and I didn't think it made much difference in my mood. But now, first thing I do shortly after waking up is make my bed. I think it does a lot to walk into my room and see that my sheets are all not cluttered like the rest of my home that's been dominated by my kids.

I like when the house is clean and the beds are made. Doesn't happen all that often though.

Sam makes the bed every day and that makes me happy.

Is one of the caviots that I have to be the one to make the bed?

Yes it does make me happier. At least I can say that I got one thing done. Unfortunately, it is also the one thing that always gets undone when I go to bed. Now that I think about it--is there really a point to making my bed?

Haha. I would say the opposite! I sometimes feel like a little bit of chaos is inevitable, so why not keep it hidden in the back of the house instead of the living room or at work or school?

Can't say, because I don't make it every day.

Absolutely not Lacey! I think I would be happier if someone else made my bed every day too! :)

Our rule is the last one out of bed has to make it. While teaching seminary for 12 years, this meant my husband made the bed all during the school year. Last year I mostly did it. But I saw the study and it said that making your bed makes people happy because we are getting up and taking care of one thing that brings order to our life. I agree. I can't stand an unmade bed. It drives me crazy. So at least I know not making my bed makes me very unhappy. :-)

I have always made my bed and get quite grumpy if it doesn't get made. I'm weird that way, I know.

Making the bed is like putting make up on for me. I just feel better about the day...even when I'm hoping to just crawl back into bed ASAP!

I'm happy either way! I grew up always jumping out of bed and making it immediately. Now I'm up earlier than the snoring bear and I don't make it... he does! If he is gone or gets up first it doesn't get made all the time. Depends, but I'm just as happy either way!

I make my bed every day and it makes me happy every time I go in my bedroom. It works for me.
